Variety Show Actors Guild Is happy to present you Andrey Angey Kovalev, famous singer, composer and arranger! (The performer of an original genre called "JAZZ - eccentric - instrument - MAN") Angey has been on stage for 15 years. Since 1990 till 1992 he worked for the Estonian Jazz Orchestra, and played in “Narvsky Dixieland” (Narva, Tallinn). In 1992 he was a soloist of “Len concert” singing for the legendary group “Jazz-Comfort” (Saint Petersburg orchestra). Angey took part in 7 international Jazz festivals, sang in musical clubs in Germany and France. He also worked in the famous German “Hapag Lloiyd” and “International Cruise and Hotel Management”, Swiss international company. Angey sang and performed several improvisations together with Bobby McFerrin in the Bobble project of the latter and during his concert in Moscow on July 10, 2005, on June 26, 2008 and on January 25-26, 2010. Angey was invited to take part in "A'cappella Express" and in jazz quartet run by Oleg Lundstrem. Angey is the performer of an original genre called "JAZZ - eccentric - instrument - MAN". Today Angey is the soloist of the ensemble of the Colonel General, Councilor of the Administration of the President of the Russian Federation composer Vladimir Polyakov. Angey is the whole band in one person and also a “music provoker” as he involves the public into extensive participation and singing together with him. His performances are aimed at very close interaction with the public and are like “a sound show” where the spectators become its participants. The large spectrum of vocal methods and imitation gift make Angey the master of many musical tricks: e.g. he could imitate the part of trumpet in jazz compositions or even create his own new world of sounds. He creates such a wonderful atmosphere by imitating the sounds of many instruments (drums, bass guitar, and trombone) and performing several musical parts at a time. He is so gifted that he can keep not only different melodic and rhythmic lines but also harmonic ones by using all the registers of his range and timbre to their best. Sometimes he uses an ancient shaman instrument called Jew’s harp or Indian flute or scat tricks. He has collaborated with many musicians, and sung for the large audiences at his shows in many cities of Russia and Germany. Angey is not just a singer, his genius combines jazz and folk and a variety of other music genres where he always contributes his own improvising part. Eccentricity is the exact word to describe Angey’s musical style. He is one of the few performers who go beyond all music genres and stereotypes to find their own inimitable and unique style.
