Симеон жил возле иерусалимского храма и каждый день приходил туда для молитвы. Годы превратили юношу в благообразного старца, а душа горела надеждой и любовью к Богу. Так в молитве и духовных подвигах прожил старец нелегкие 360 лет. Не представить радость Симеона, когда тот увидел Пресвятую Деву, что принесла в храм Свое Дитя. Старец держал в руках Откровение пророков и Спасение мира и молился словами: «Ныне отпускаешь раба Твоего, Владыко, по слову Твоему, с миром, ибо видели очи мои спасение Твое»… Увидев все, чего так долго дожидался, и сказав все необходимое тем, кто продолжал земное странствование, Симеон покинул землю. Покинул без страха и сожаления. Он видел Мессию! Сердце плотское его остановилось. И душа его устремилась в вечность. Thus in prayer and spiritual feats the elder lived a difficult 360 years. It is impossible to imagine Simeon's joy when he saw the Blessed Virgin, who brought her Child into the temple. The elder held in his hands the Revelation of the prophets and the Salvation of the world and prayed with the words: “Now lettest Thou Thy servant go, O Lord, according to Thy word, in peace, for my eyes have seen Thy salvation”.
